X Factor New Zealand Contestant Stands up to a Couple of Bullies
What do you do when a couple of jerks who think they’re better than you insult you on live TV?
Do you let their words get in your head and walk out in tears?
Or do you power through their BS, stand your ground and tell them you’re awesome?
X Factor New Zealand contestant Joe Irvine went with the second option and showed everyone what being Alpha is all about.
After he was done with his song, husband-wife couple Willy Moon and Natalia Kills tore into Irvine for allegedly “copying” Moon’s suit-and-tie get-up, and said his look was “cheesy” and “atrocious”.
The two judges took turns bashing Irvine, calling him a “doppelganger” and even comparing his behavior to Norman Bates.
Moon told the contestant, “I feel like you’re gonna stitch someone’s skin to your face and then kill everybody in the audience.”
Well, that escalated quickly.
I have to hand it to this kid – he took a verbal beating and didn’t even flinch. It would have been so easy for Irvine to hurl insults back at them, but he stayed as classy as his suit.
His comebacks included, “Thank you Natalia, you’re beautiful” and “I think I look really good.”
I don’t know about you, but dressing up for a TV show doesn’t really qualify as crazy to me. I couldn’t say the same for the judges’ choice of words, though.
